Rocket Raccoon was created by Bill Mantlo and Keith Griffen and drawn by none other than Mike Mignola creator of Hellboy. Besides being a fun funny animal science fiction story it’s also a great social and religious satire. Unfortunately it’s never been collected but keep your eyes open and you might happen across the issues in a long box somewhere.

Thanks to Ryland Ianelli who gave me the issues to scan and also shared his childhood memories of Rocket. Speaking of which I can’t help but notice a ton of similarities between RR and my favorite childhood funny animal sci-fi comic Bucky O’Hare which was drawn by Michael Golden and written by Larry Hama.
